Rust force wipe countdown

Facepunch force wipes on the first Thursday of every month at 19:00 UTC, alongside the monthly update. This counts down to the next one in your own timezone, live.

Force wipe vs weekly wipe

Force wipe is the one nobody opts out of: the monthly update changes the network protocol, which invalidates every server's map and blueprint data whether the owner likes it or not. Everything resets — map seed, bases, blueprints on most setups — and it's the busiest moment in the game's month, because the entire population starts from a rock at the same time.

Weekly wipes are a server-owner choice, most commonly Thursday, and usually reset the map while keeping blueprints. That's why "when does my server wipe" has two answers, and only the monthly one is guaranteed. The second date above is the next Thursday, which is what most weekly servers follow.

The practical use of this countdown is planning: there's no point starting an elaborate base two days before force wipe, and there's every reason to be logged in and ready at the moment it lands, because the first hours after a wipe decide who controls the good real estate for the rest of the month.

Questions

What exactly gets wiped?

Force wipe always clears the map and everything built on it. Blueprints depend on the server — Facepunch's own official servers wipe them monthly, while many community servers keep blueprints and reset only the map.

Why 19:00 UTC on the first Thursday?

That's when Facepunch ships the monthly update, and the update itself is what forces the wipe by changing the protocol version. The time is consistent enough to plan around, though the exact minute can slip if a build has problems.

Does this countdown adjust for my timezone?

Yes — the top line converts the wipe to your device's local time and names the timezone it used, so you don't have to do UTC math while half-asleep.
