eBay fee calculator
eBay's final value fee applies to the whole transaction — item, shipping, the lot — plus a fixed per-order charge. This page uses the most-categories rate; some categories differ.

The two things sellers consistently miss
First: the final value fee is charged on the total the buyer pays, including shipping. Charging $5 shipping does not sidestep the fee — eBay takes its percentage of that $5 too. The old trick of a cheap item with expensive shipping stopped working when eBay moved to total-based fees, and pricing as if shipping is fee-free quietly shaves your margin on every order.
Second: the rate is category-dependent. Most categories share the standard rate this calculator uses, but sneakers, watches, musical instruments, and several other categories run their own schedules, and store subscribers pay different rates again. If you sell in one niche category, check its specific rate — on high-value items the category difference is worth more than any other optimization on this page.
The per-order fee is $0.30 on orders of $10 or less and $0.40 above that — irrelevant on a $200 sale, a real percentage on a $4 one. If you sell low-priced items in volume, that flat fee matters more to you than the headline percentage. One more honesty note: eBay's fee base also includes sales tax the buyer pays, which this calculator can't know — so on taxed orders the true fee runs slightly higher than shown here.
Questions
Does eBay charge fees on shipping?
Yes — the final value fee applies to the full amount the buyer pays, including shipping and handling. Enter your shipping charge above to see its effect on the payout.
Is the rate the same for every category?
No. Most categories share the standard rate used here, but several (sneakers, watches, instruments, and others) have their own schedules, and eBay Store subscribers get different rates. Check your category's rate on eBay's fee page if you specialize.
What about promoted listings?
Promoted listing ad fees come out on top of everything shown here, at whatever ad rate you chose. Add your ad percentage to the mental math — a 2% ad rate on top of standard fees moves the total take noticeably.
Are these numbers current?
The verification date above says when they were last checked against eBay's official fee page. eBay adjusts rates periodically, so if the stamp is old, check before relying on it.
