Roblox tax and DevEx calculator

Roblox takes a cut, then DevEx converts what's left to dollars at a fixed rate. Both steps matter, and the cut depends on what you're selling.

Rates verified 04 August 2026 against the platform’s official page.

The cut is not always 30%

The widely-repeated "Roblox takes 30%" is only true for in-experience sales — game passes and developer products, where you keep 70%. Avatar and UGC marketplace items are the opposite: creators start at just 30%, with Roblox keeping 70%, and the creator's share rises on a progressive scale the further above the item's price floor you sell. This calculator uses the base rate for each type, so treat UGC results as the floor rather than the ceiling.

DevEx is the second cut

Earned Robux convert at roughly $0.0038 each — published as $114 per 30,000 Robux. There's a US 18+ rate of $0.0054 for eligible in-experience purchases from age-verified American players; tick that field to see it. Either way you need a minimum of 30,000 Earned Robux before you can cash out at all, which is the wall most young creators hit. If you're short, the calculator shows exactly how many more sales it takes at your current price.

Worth stating plainly: the effective rate from a player's Robux purchase to your bank is brutal once both cuts stack. Roblox is a great place to learn to build things people use — it's a poor place to expect meaningful income, and DevEx itself requires being 13+ with a verified account.

Questions

Why is my UGC share so much lower than 70%?

Avatar and UGC marketplace items start at 30% to the creator, not 70%. The share climbs progressively as your price rises above the category's price floor, reaching 70% at roughly six times the floor.

How much is 30,000 Robux worth?

$114 at the standard DevEx rate of $0.0038 per Earned Robux. That's also the minimum you must accumulate before any cash-out is possible.

Does the upload fee count?

It's separate — Roblox charges 80 Robux per UGC submission whether or not the item ever sells, plus larger publishing advances for limiteds. Those costs aren't in the payout above.

Can I get paid without being 18?

DevEx requires being at least 13 with a verified account and an approved payout method; the enhanced US rate specifically requires 18+ age verification on the buyer's side, not yours. Check Roblox's current DevEx requirements before planning around it.
